Freedom from Type 1 Diabetes

I asked a friend of mine, Sarah Prairie, to share her story with us all because it is amazing. She is a beautiful young woman, inside and out, and I hope her story touches many!

—————————————————————————————————————————————

I hope that in sharing my testimony, I will bring some encouragement to someone, because there IS hope in whatever circumstance you are in.

My journey has not been easy, but I have learned a great deal from every experience, and I pray that I will never forget the ways that God has carried me through them.

I was 8 years old when I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I started taking around 4 shots a day, and over the years it was up to 8 or 10 a day. I was in and out of the hospital due to complications of the disease and was put on and insulin pump at the age of 12. My dad passed away that year after a year long battle of health problems, and cancer that took his life at the age of 42. (He was also diabetic). My mom was left with 4 young children, and a life that she knew nothing of. As the oldest daughter, I suddenly became an adult caring for my family when my mom couldn’t, and doing everything I could for them. I quickly became severely depressed and was functioning off of other peoples energy, because I had none of my own. I was put on antidepressants, but only took them for a short time.

It wasn’t until about 3 years ago that I really began to suffer from other health problems. My diabetes was out of control, so much so, that my doctor told me that he was afraid I was going to have a heart attack. My liver was so swollen I could feel it through my stomach because of how high my blood sugars were. My doctor prescribed me medication for heart disease, blood pressure, another shot I had to take 3 times a day to help control my blood sugar, and medication for my thyroid. In the next 4 months or so I was diagnosed with Thyroid disease, Graves disease, and Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome. They found a lump on my Thyroid and did a biopsy on it, which was the most painful thing I’ve experienced. I felt like a 90 year old in my 22 year old body. My whole body would ache in pain, and I felt like sleeping at all times. I was irritable and lonely, because nobody knew how bad I was really feeling, and I was hating myself. I was put on antidepressants once again.
In the midst of all this, the guy that I had been in a relationship with for almost a year tells me that he is being sent to India to find a wife and marry her. There are no words to describe the amount of pain I felt at that time. I felt like I was suffocating and drowning in my sadness. I would fall asleep after crying for hours, and wake up with my eyes so swollen I couldn’t see. I had so much anger, and the depth of my pain was more than I could bare, and I wanted to be dead. I finally got enough strength to go for a walk and during the walk, I cried my heart out to God and basically told him that I was tired of being tired and sad and sick. I told Him I would rather be dead than live this way. If He could just bring me peace rather than hell, and joy rather than sadness, and if I could just rest in Him… that’s all I could ask for. I wasn’t even sure if He would rescue me, but I needed His salvation desperately.

That was almost 2 years ago, and I can’t even describe how much God has restored in my life since then. I am engaged to be married to the most wonderful man. God is so amazingly good.

I started taking Shaklee supplements earlier this year, and honestly have never felt better. (B-Complex, Vita-Lea, Herb-Lax, Vitamin E, Vitamin C and Optiflora). Since I started taking the supplements, I am no longer taking any of the medications that I was prescribed. In fact, I went to the doctor a week ago and he decreased the amount of insulin I was taking in half. (I was taking up to 80-100 units per day). My body no longer aches, and I have energy that I never had before. Sometimes you don’t even know how deficient your body is, until you give it what it needs.

God’s care for His children is so amazing. He is our rescuer, our Healer, and a refuge for us. He brings good news to our affliction, binds up the brokenhearted, and saves us when our spirit is crushed.

“I have seen his ways, and I will heal him, I will lead him and restore comfort to him and to his mourning.” Isa 57:18

“I have type 2 diabetes.  My regular supplement program includes 2-4 Vita-LEA and 2-4 CarotoMax.  I began to have trouble seeing with my glasses and thought that these supplements may have improved my eyesight.  When I could no longer read colored dominoes without removing my glasses, I scheduled an eye exam.  I was right!  My eyes had improved.  When I asked the doctor if she saw any signs of bleeding from diabetes, she was surprised because she could not detect ANY diabetic signs.  She said my eyes were ‘in really good condition.’  When I picked up my lenses, the doctor commented on my eyes again.  In checking back through her records, my newest prescription was similar to one from 12 years ago.  I was thrilled.  The only difference was adding E Complex and CarotoMax.  What great results!”

Nutrition for Diabetes Mellitus

We suggest following this plan for 6 months. It takes our bodies years to get “out of shape” so it is vital to give your body proper time to heal and repair. Supplementing AIDS your body in repairing itself, but a proper diet also must be followed in order to see optimal results. Many people have seen this disease improve, but commitment and positive outlook are also very important!

The below supplemental suggestions have been derived from several sources–Dr. Frank Painter, D.C., Dr. James F. Balch, M.D., and Phyllis A. Balch, C.N.C.

Both Type I & II diabetics have increased requirements for multiple nutrients, including, but not limited to, chromium, magnesium and Vitamin C. Repletion of these vitamins has been shown to improve glycemic control and to slow the development of diabetic retinopathy.

Diabetics also require supplemental pre-formed Vitamin A, due to their impaired ability to convert Beta-Carotene to Vitamin A

GENERAL ADVICE:

1. Glucose Regulation Complex: Support for efficient glucose metabolism and improves insulin efficiency. Alpha lipoic acid, for example, helps make your cells more responsive to insulin so they get the energy they need. Vanadium works with chromium, magnesium, and zinc to help balance your blood sugar, preventing energy ups and downs. Helps curb cravings. May help reduce the amount of insulin or medication that person is taking.

DAILY DOSAGE: As directed on label

2.Vivix: World’s best cellular anti-aging supplement. In laboratory studies, vivix was shown to impact the four key mechanisms of cellular anti-aging. This is a highly purified and concentrated form of resveratrol and other ingredients.  Resveratrol research has shown tremendous promise in reversing diabetes and repairing some past damage.

DAILY DOSAGE: 1 tsp.

3. Vitamin B Complex: B’s are associated with sugar metabolism/energy release.  Neuropathies, especially with pain/burning sensations) and leg ulcers respond well to the B’s.

DAILY DOSAGE: 2-4 per meal

4. Zinc: Insulin contains a lot of zinc and diabetics seem to lose more of it in their urine. It is also an important component of over 90 body enzymes. It is also important for healing and immune competency.

DAILY DOSAGE: Take 1 per meal.

5. Soy Protein: Replace animal proteins, which are harder to metabolize, thus causing stress on the liver.  See our other articles on the importance of and many benefits of Soy Portein.

DAILY DOSAGE: 2 servings

Very Important:

6. CoQHeart: Coenzyme Q10 will improve circulation and help to stabilize blood sugar. CoQHeart also helps to support energy production in your cells.  This is also important for heart health, which relies on CoQ10 for energy daily.

DAILY DOSAGE: 1 per meal

7. CarotoMax (Beta Carotene and other carotenoids): An important antioxidant needed to maintain the health of the eyes. This enhances the healing of tissues and immune competency, as demonstrated by Albert Einstein College in wound healing studies.  CaratoMax has 5,000IU Vitamin A. If pregnant, do not exceed 1o,oooIU per day (2 capsules per day)

DAILY DOSAGE: 1 per meal

8. Vitamin C: Vitamin C is essential for many body processes, from iron absorption, to healing, hormone production, immune function and reduction of heart disease risk. Deficiency may lead to vascular problems in people with diabetes.

DAILY DOSAGE: 2 Sustained Release Vita-C per meal (in a month, increase to 3 per meal)

9. Vitamin E: LDL cholesterol fats in the diet can become oxidized and wind up as plaque (“hardening” of the arteries). Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant and has been proven to prevent this plaque buildup by improving circulation.

DAILY DOSAGE: 2 Vita-E Complex daily

10. Fiber: There are 2 types. Soluble fiber (from fruits, vegetables, oats and dried beans) help reduce drastic shifts in blood sugar levels as well as lowering total blood LDL (the “bad”) cholesterol. Insoluble fiber   (daily recommendations are 30 grams per day) is rarely met by the normal diet. For this reason, supplementation is necessary.  Diabetics are more prone to constipation, so adding a fiber supplement and increased water intake is important.

DAILY DOSAGE: 40 grams combined soluble and insoluble fibers (various Shaklee fiber products to choose from).

11. OsteoMatrix (Calcium and Magnesium): Magnesium is associated with carbohydrate metabolism and is usually low in diabetics. Low levels are associated with heart disease and retinopathy. Calcium and Magnesium are both important for enzyme systems and pH balance. Magnesium protects against coronary artery spasm in arteriosclerosis.

DAILY DOSAGE: 2-3 OsteoMatrix per meal

Helpful:

12. Garlic: Stabilizes blood sugar, enhances immunity, and improves circulation.

DAILY DOSAGE: 2 each morning and evening, with meals.

13. EZ Gest: To aid digestion.  Proper digestion is essential in management of diabetes.

DAILY DOSAGE: As directed on label. Take with meals.
